HPC Carpentry Lessons

An HPC Carpentry workshop is taught by at least one trained and badged Instructor. Over the course of the workshop, Instructors teach the skills and concepts needed to connect to and execute tasks on a shared, distributed compute cluster, and to combine multiple tasks into coordinated workflows. Curricula for these lessons are below.

These lessons require experience of working in a UNIX command line environment (e.g. the terminal on a Linux or Mac system). Where Instructors or workshop hosts anticipate that learners will not yet be familiar with working on the command line, a workshop may begin with Software Carpentry’s lesson The UNIX Shell.

Extended Curriculum

The lessons listed below can be used to complement the standard curriculum in an HPC Carpentry workshop. They are in an earlier phase of development and/or may be suitable to a more specialised audience than our core curriculum. Some lessons in the extended curriculum may be suitable for teaching as a standalone workshop.
